Luis Fernando Monterrosa Zavaleta - President
Luis Monterrosa is a Salvadoran who came to the US and obtained two degrees; Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, both from Colorado State University.
He is a Field Engineer at PCL Construction and has participated in a leadership program with Korn Ferry Foundation. He has also mentored Hispanic high school students in topics of early career development.
Luis serves as the President of the Colorado Professional Chapter of SHPE after being involved as a student for years.
He is involved with SHPE because he believes in the vision of empowering Hispanics/Latinos to become the next leaders of the STEM fields and provide the next generation with role models they can relate to and be inspired by.
Dante Barragan, MSECE - VP of Corporate Relations

Dante graduated from Universidad de Colima with a Bachelor of Science in Communications and Electronics Engineering and from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Dante is a wireless and IT expert with 15+ years' background experience in product development, RF engineering, wireless architecture, technical sales and project management. He is deeply passionate about technology and business. Throughout his career, he has developed, managed and deployed hundreds of innovative products, solutions and applications that have improved customers’ lives and user experience.
Dante is involved with SHPE because he believes it is important to continuously give back to the community and to empower students and professionals to be the best version of themselves. SHPE is a great platform to do this, while having fun and connecting with amazing individuals.
Annamarie Valdez Nicholson, PMP - VP of Finance
Annamarie has acquired the following: Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Degree from Colorado School of Mines w/ a minor in Computer Science. Masters in Business Administration from Regis University.
While working as a Project Manager in a Global Technology company for over 20 years, she reached a point in which she realized her career values of freedom and flexibility were no longer being met. Annamarie left her corporate position, and in 2018 she discovered Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). She obtained her Practitioner Certification and is working towards her International Coaching Federation Certification.
Annamarie now owns her own Project Management Consulting and NLP Coaching business.
Annamarie has a passion for servant leadership and has mentored many students, coordinated STEM based workshops, leadership conferences, and career fairs.
She is a Lifetime SHPE member and considers her fellow SHPE members her familia.
Annamarie expects to always be involved with SHPE in some capacity whether on the board, as a volunteer, or an advocate.
Ramon Martinez, P.E. - VP of Operations
Ramon graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver and majored in Civil Engineering with a minor in Applied Leadership.
For the last 6 years he has been a project manager at ZAP Engineering and Construction Services.
Ramon volunteers for SHPE Colorado because SHPE contributed to his development. It gave him a support system to get through college and prepare himself for the professional world.
He recalls the time and effort from professionals that have taken time out of their busy schedules to provide advice and mentorship. Ramon now sees his board position as a way to give back to the community and promote STEM in the Hispanic community.
Marti Mondragon - VP of Professional Development

Marti is coming to us with an electrical engineering and client executive management background. During her tenure in various technical and management roles at IBM and most recently at Palo Alto Networks, Marti has been and continues to be an advocate for the advancement and development of Hispanics in pursuing STEM careers. As Vice President of Professional Development she plans to develop and implement projects, forums, events and initiatives that will inspire and support the Colorado SHPE Familia to grow professionally and personally.
Marti was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico. She is a former SHPE student chapter president at the University of Colorado at Boulder as well as a STEM scholarship recipient at the United States Military Academy at West Point. She is fluent in Spanish, loves to ski and enjoys traveling.

Anai Soto - VP of Communications

Anai is an Industrial Engineer and have experience in the strategy for operational excellence, supply chain and quality to improve the global performance of multinational companies through leading cross-functional teams in global environments.
She loves to talk to a wide diversity of people so she can further challenge her thought process, grow as a human being and further develop her personal values. She considers herself a global citizen, that has traveled to many countries to engage with the world.
She loves to participate in the Latino community to provide support and information to students that want to succeed in the professional workforce in the United States.
